Ruse Brewing, the Southeast Portland brewery that was the buzz of the city’s beer scene after opening its brewing and taproom in 2018, on Saturday heads north across the Columbia River to open its first satellite location, the pizza-focused Crust Collective on the Vancouver Waterfront.

A new senior living building broke ground on Tuesday at The Waterfront Vancouver development, with completion planned for spring 2024.
The Springs at The Waterfront, on Block 18, will be the largest building at the waterfront – 12 stories tall with about 378,000 square feet of gross floor area, according to building plans. About 250 private residences will be available to people ages 62 and older. The building will create about 100 jobs.

Sawmills, shipyards, breweries and a paper mill once lined the north bank of the Columbia River in the “Other Vancouver,” the Washington town across the water from Portland that thrived with industry in the late 1800s.
Fast-forward to a post-pandemic 2022. People walk their dogs and kids play in a waterfront park flanked by restaurants, wine tasting rooms, a gourmet coffee “gastro” cafe, and, coming later this year: two hotels; an El Gaucho and 13 Coins restaurant; a brewery; and another taproom.

The Waterfront Taphouse will soon be opening in the 5,613 sf eating space in The Don Building at the growing Waterfront Vancouver development.
Five Spice Restaurant Group, the well known, Northwest-based food company, announced plans to open its fifth property at 801 Waterfront way’s upper floor at the growing Waterfront Vancouver development. The group acquired the Barlow’s Public House space from owners Brian and Alicia Rummer, effective immediately.
Jeff Skeele, Chief Executive Officer at Five Spice Restaurant Group, will manage the new Vancouver eatery. “We’re expanding our casual dining portfolio to bring the successful taphouse concept to the Waterfront after a well-received opening at Murrayhill Taphouse in Beaverton last year,” said Skeele.

Barlow’s Public Hose at The Waterfront Vancouver has announced it closed permanently over the weekend, and a new restaurant called The Waterfront Taphouse is due to open in the spot as soon as late Spring.
